On, November 8, Danielle Dickinson Thaden visited the East Union ASPIRE Super Kids. Mrs. Thaden is the new director at the Gibson Memorial Library in Creston.
First, she read Margaret and the Moon by Dean Robbins. It was the true story about Margaret Hamilton who let her love for math and her desire to solve problems make her one of the first female software engineers. Did you know that without her expertise in coding, none of the Apollo space missions could have been successfully completed.
Then Mrs. Thaden introduced the kids to her BeeBots. They were given a number of challenges and they even got to practice their coding skills. Can’t wait until next month to see what she has in store for them. Don’t forget to visit the Gibson Memorial Library to check out all the FREE programs available for people of all ages.
