ASPIRE Super Kids
On, December 6th, Danielle Dickinson Thaden returned to visit the East Union ASPIRE Super Kids. Mrs. Thaden talked with the kids about all that’s happening at the Gibson Memorial Library in Creston.
Then she read Iggy Peck Architect by Andrea Beatty. It is a fictional story about Iggy Peck who discovered his love for architecture at the very young age of 2 and enjoyed building many fabulous creations. When in second grade, he was faced with a REAL challenge!
Mrs. Thaden distributed Legos to each group of the ASPIRE Super Kids and gave them a challenge to build a bridge. They were given the opportunity to be as creative as they wanted, however, when they were finished, it had to be tested. It had to span two chairs and support the weight of 1-3 water bottles. After working hard (and cooperatively), the kids celebrated their successes and failures.
The Gibson Memorial Library is a great place to visit. There are lots of great programs to check out and everything is FREE and available for people of all ages. Mrs. Thaden is even busy working to bring more library outreach to the East Union community.
